Delhi Capitals have registered a dominating victory against Chennai Super Kings in their first match of the season. CSK, on the other hand, could not start well again after failing to qualify for the playoffs in the last season. DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. Chennai had a horrible start as they lost both their openers for only 7 runs.

Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran played vital knocks for them and powered the team total to 188/7 in 20 overs. Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan picked up 2 wickets each in the first innings. In response to this target, the DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave a blistering start to the team adding 138 runs for the first wicket.

Prithvi Shaw played an explosive knock of 72 runs in 38 balls which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. Shikhar Dhawan got out after scoring 85 runs off 54 balls with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes. DC chased down the required target in 18.4 overs winning the game by 7 wickets.
