Delhi Capitals (DC) had a bit of a stutter after they had a Super Over escape and a one-run defeat. However, Rishabh Pant and Co stamped their authority against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), beating them by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It also made sure that they stormed to the second position in the points table below MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After electing to field first, DC restricted the Knights to 154 for six in 20 overs. Barring Shubman Gill’s 43 and Andre Russell’s unbeaten 45, none one of the KKR batters could garner momentum.

In the run-chase, the Capitals’ batters came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 67 runs in the powerplay. In the meantime, with their fifth defeat of the season, Eoin Morgan’s Men in Gold and Purple kept gasping for breath in the T20 league.

Here are the DC Player Ratings for the DC vs KKR match:

Prithvi Shaw- 9.5/10

Prithvi Shaw started his knock by hitting Shivam Mavi for six fours in the first over. From there, he notched an 18-ball fifty. He went on to score 82 off 41 with 11 fours and three sixes before Pat Cummins dismissed him.

Shikhar Dhawan- 7/10

Shikhar Dhawan turned out to be the more patient between the two openers. The left-hander scored 46 runs off 47 balls with the help of four fours and one six. Pat Cummins trapped him in front to cut short his stay.

Steve Smith- N/A

Rishabh Pant- 6.5/10

Rishabh Pant, yet another time, impressed with his captaincy skills. But he would be disappointed after giving his wicket away to Cummins when DC were in a commanding position. With the bat, he scored an eight-ball 16 with two fours and a six.

Shimron Hetmyer- N/A

Marcus Stoinis- 6/10

Marcus Stoinis didn’t get much of a chance to bat, but he did his job with the ball in hand. The medium-pacer went for seven runs off the only over he bowled, and he got the all-important wicket of Rahul Tripathi, who was batting on 19.

Lalit Yadav- 9.5/10

Lalit Yadav bowled with a lot of heart and turned out to be the most economical bowler for the Capitals with an economy of 4.33 in three overs. He also got the crucial wickets of Sunil Narine and Eoin Morgan.

Axar Patel- 8.5/10

Axar Patel was fairly decent with the ball in hand. The left-arm spinner gave away 32 runs in four overs at an economy of eight. The tweaker also accounted for the wickets of Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik.

Kagiso Rabada- 6/10

Kagiso Rabada didn’t have the day he would have wished to have with the ball in hand. The speedster gave 31 runs in his quota of four overs. The speedster was also hit for a couple of sixes by Andre Russell.

Avesh Khan- 7.5/10

Avesh Khan had a reasonable day with the ball. The pacer bowled at an economy rate of 7.75 as he gave 31 runs off his four overs. The right-arm pacer also got the wicket of Gill, who had gotten his eyes in.

Ishant Sharma- 5.5/10

Ishant Sharma was the most expensive bowler for the Capitals on the day. He went for 34 runs at an economy rate of 8.50 to go with six dots. The fast bowler was also smashed for three fours and one six.
