Continuing their sensational run in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to go atop of the team standings. It was indeed a comprehensive performance from the Rishabh Pant-led side as SRH never really looked in the contest. Chasing a paltry total of 135 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, DC hardly break any sweat and comfortably got over the line.

Notably, it was the first assignment of both sides in the UAE leg. The coin landed in SRH’s favour and skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat first. The decision didn’t prove fruitful by any means as Hyderabad suffered a batting collapse. While opener David Warner perished for a duck, Wriddhiman Saha, Manish Pandey, and Kane Williamson threw their wickets away after getting good starts.

Nevertheless, Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan played some fine shots in the end overs as SRH posted 134/9. However, the target never really troubled DC’s daunting batting line-up. Although young opener Prithvi Shaw scored just 11, opener Shikhar Dhawan joined forces with Shreyas Iyer and the duo made sure there’s no twist in the tale.

The dup added 52 runs for the second wicket as Hyderabad’s hopes were shattered. Dhawan’s departure brought skipper Rishabh Pant to the center stage and the southpaw continued the onslaught. He scored a quick-fire 35 as Delhi got over the line in just 17.5 overs.
