Phew! Another nail-biting finish and the points table has gotten even more complicated. In a low-scoring thriller, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets to consolidate their second position in the team standings. Although DC’s way to triumph wasn’t smooth, they eventually chased down 130 with five balls to spare. This result has also made MI’s road to IPL 2021 playoff even more difficult.

Speaking of how the game unfolded, Delhi Capitals unsurprisingly opted to bowl after winning the toss in Sharjah. With the track being slow and dry, runs weren’t easy to come by as MI batters never got going. While Suryakumar Yadav looked impressive during his 33-run knock, Quinton de Kock (19) and Saurabh Tiwary (15) threw away decent starts.

For DC, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje made the ball talk. As a result, the five-time champions were restricted to 129/8. Although the target didn’t seem daunting on paper, Delhi Capitals had a hard time. They lost three wickets inside the first five overs as the MI camp seemed ecstatic. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer played some aggressive shots but also fell in the process.

At 93/6, DC were struggling indeed. However, Shreyas Iyer joined forces with Ravichandran Ashwin and the duo brought stability. The duo added 39 runs for the seventh wicket as DC crossed the line in 19.1 overs.

Meanwhile, here are the important stats and numbers from the MI vs DC clash in IPL 2021:

116 – Avesh Khan’s tally of 116 dot deliveries is now the second-most for a bowler in IPL 2021. Mohammed Shami (125) tops the list.

2 – Avesh also became the second bowler after purple-cap holder Harshal Patel to complete 20 wickets in IPL 2021.

3 – Avesh’s tally of 21 wickets is the joint third-highest for an uncapped player in an IPL season. While the DC pacer shared the feat with Siddarth Kaul and Sreenath Aravind, Harshal Patel (26) and Yuzvendra Chahal (23) are ahead of him on this list.

2 – Axar Patel became the second-most successful left-arm spinner in IPL 2021. He went past Pragyan Ojha’s tally of 89 scalps by picking his first wicket of the game. While Patel has 92 wickets in IPL now, Ravindra Jadeja (122) tops the list.

11Jasprit Bumrah has taken 11 wickets in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, most by any bowler. Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel have taken 9 wickets apiece.

1 – Rohit Sharma becomes the first player to get out on 60 single-digit scores in IPL. Dinesh Karthik (58) is second on this list.

4 – For the fourth time in IPL, Rohit Sharma smashed a boundary in the very first ball of an innings. Only Quinton de Kock (5) and Dwayne Smith (6) have done it more times.
