Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have put forth an impressive show after their loss to the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their opening game of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). On Friday, April 16, The MS Dhoni-led unit beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets with 26 balls to spare.

From the time they won the toss and elected to field first, most of the things went in favour of the Super Kings. Their bowlers made sure that PBKS were restricted to 106 for eight in their 20 overs. In their run-chase, CSK had a bit of a hiccup, but it came at a stage when they were almost home.

The win at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai took the Yellow Army to second in the points table below the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In the meantime, the Punjab-based team has plenty of thinking to do going into their next encounter against Rishabh Pant’s Capitals on Sunday.

Here are the CSK Player Ratings for the PBKS vs CSK match:

Ruturaj Gaikwad- 1.5/10

Ruturaj Gaikwad had another poor outing with the bat in hand. He toiled hard for 16 balls and scored only five. His misery came to an end after left-armer Arshdeep Singh accounted for his wicket.

Faf du Plessis- 7/10

Faf du Plessis got a duck against the Capitals and he took the patient route in the game on Friday. He stayed unbeaten on 36 runs off 33 balls and his knock was laced with three fours and one massive six.

Moeen Ali- 8.5/10

Moeen Ali impressed with the ball, conceding 17 runs in three overs and also picking up Jhye Richardson’s wicket. With the bat, the southpaw went on to score 46 runs off 31 balls with seven fours and one six.

Suresh Raina- 2/10

Suresh Raina started his knock with a boundary and didn’t have pressure on him. The left-hander got out on eight after he tried to pull Mohammed Shami. His shortcoming against the short-pitched delivery seemed palpable.

Ambati Rayudu- 1/10

Ambati Rayudu came to bat with the Super Kings needing only eight runs from 33 balls. But he got out for a golden duck, giving Shami his second wicket. He would be disappointed for throwing his wicket away.

Ravindra Jadeja- 8/10

Ravindra Jadeja did his job with precision with the ball in hand. In his four overs, the left-arm spinner gave away only 19 runs. He bowled only 14 dots and conceded a four and a six in his decent spell.

MS Dhoni- 6/10

MS Dhoni had a horrendous outing against the Capitals as he made a duck and his team slumped to a huge defeat. However, he made amends against the Kings. He was clever in making bowling changes.

Sam Curran- 9/10

Sam Curran was tough to get away as he managed to keep a check on the run-scoring. In three overs, he gave away 12 runs with as many dot balls. The left-armer also got the wicket of Shahrukh Khan at the death.

Dwayne Bravo- 7.5/10

Dwayne Bravo got to bowl only two overs and he didn’t let his team down by any means. He gave away only 10 runs at an economy rate of five and also picked up the wicket of Murugan Ashwin in the 17th over.

Shardul Thakur- 5/10

Shardul Thakur didn’t have the day he would have expected to. He turned out to be the most expensive bowler for the Super Kings on the day. In four overs, he conceded 35 runs at an economy rate of 8.75.

Deepak Chahar- 9.5/10

Deepak Chahar broke the backbone of the PBKS batting lineup in the powerplay. He got rid of Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran, and gave away only 13 runs at an economy of 3.25. He bowled 18 dots and one maiden.
