The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is hours away from its start as the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) face off the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

While the previous edition of the marquee league was organized in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) due to the Covid-19 situation in India, the BCCI and other stakeholders have done their best to conduct the upcoming edition in the country, although without the crowd being allowed.

As the league returns only after 5 months for the first time, there is another first as the teams will be playing all their encounters at neutral venues in the 14th edition. This will be the first time that no team will play even a single game at their home venue, which has denied any kind of home advantage to all the franchises.

As the fever of cricket’s most beloved league rises, many cricketers, pundits, and experts have come in with their opinions, advice, and even prediction. Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has not been left behind as he took to Twitter to suggest that Mumbai Indians will win the IPL trophy once again. However, only if there is no “bizarre loss of form” for the Rohit Sharma-led team, in which case Vaughan predicts the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to lift the trophy.

“Early IPL 2021 prediction… MI will win it… if by some bizarre loss of form then Sunrisers Hyderabad”, read Vaughan’s tweet.

Wasim Jaffer trolls Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan was amongst many who believed that Australia would clean sweep India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, only for India to clinch a historic win. It was not the first time in the recent past when Vaughan’s predictions have gone horribly wrong and opposite.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a hilarious jibe at his English counterpart, sharing a meme in response to his tweet, suggesting that both MI and SRH have been jinxed. Known for his witty nature, Jaffer once again left many in splits through his jovial style.
