As the matches are going deep in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, tempers are also flaring among players, and one such incident between Ravi Ashwin, Eoin Morgan, and Tim Southee caught all the attention during DC vs KKR match. It all began in the 19th over of the game when Ashwin and Pant were on the crease and the ace spinner had some heated exchange of words with Morgan and Southee.

The matter could have escalated before Dinesh Karthik and few other players decided to make out peace. In the same line, various experts have been putting forward their opinions on what Ashwin did was right or wrong. Few even added that the Delhi spinner didn’t go with the spirit of the game and his act was unjust. However, Ashwin has finally broken the silence on the matter and has come forward with his side of the story.

While taking the matter to his official Twitter, the 35-year-old also threw light on the sequence of events that took place on the field at that time. Meanwhile, he also stated that Morgan called him a ‘disgrace’ for his actions.

“1. I turned to run the moment I saw the fielder throw and dint know the ball had hit Rishabh. 2. Will I run if I see it!? Of course, I will and I am allowed to. 3. Am I a disgrace like Morgan said I was? Of course NOT.

“4. Did I fight? No, I stood up for myself and that’s what my teachers and parents taught me to do and pls teach your children to stand up for themselves. In Morgan or Southee’s world of cricket they can choose and stick to what they believe is right or wrong but do not have the,” tweeted Ashwin.

Ravi Ashwin opens up on the matter in details

Ashwin concluded by adding that people should tell their children about the actual ‘spirit of game’ and not just accept anything wrong coming towards them. A person needs to stand for himself and this is what precisely he did by not entertaining Morgan and Southee, reckoned the spinner.

“Give your heart and soul on the field and play within the rules of the game and shake your hands once the game is over. The above is the only ‘spirit of the game’  I understand,” he added.
