Team India has been experiencing a sensational outing in the England tour of India thus far. They were at their fluent best in the four-match Test series as they emerged victorious by 3-1 and booked a berth for themselves in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand.

This was followed by the hosts proving their dominance in the shortest format of the game as they won the T20I series by 3-2 after an intense competition. Virat Kohli and his men had a scintillating start to the ongoing three-match ODI series too as they scripted a sweet victory against the England side in the first One Day International by 66 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

However, ahead of the second ODI, India has been dealt with a massive blow as their star batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the remaining of the One Day series after dislocating his shoulder. Iyer had succumbed to injury while trying to save runs for his team by stopping a shot from England opener Jonny Bairstow.

Shreyas Iyer suffers a labrum tear

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ruled the middle-order batsman from the ODI series, it was speculated that Shreyas can also miss the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, it is now learned that Delhi Capitals skipper might miss the whole 14th edition of the T20 Extravaganza as a senior journalist named Venkata Krishna B took to Twitter to inform that Shreyas has suffered a labrum tear and will have to undergo a major operation followed by a 3-4 months break from the game of cricket.

“UPDATE ON SHREYAS: Shreyas Iyer has suffered a labrum tear on his left shoulder and will undergo an operation in a day or two, which could see him miss the entire IPL and sideline him for 3-4 months,” the journalist tweeted.

The absence of Shreyas Iyer will be a major setback for the Delhi franchise as over the past three years, under his leadership, the team has done exceedingly well and was one of the prime contenders for ending their long wait for an IPL trophy.
