IPL 2021: Team-wise one trustworthy player in the season

Over the years, Suresh Raina has been the trustworthy candidate for CSK, much like CSK being the trustworthy team to qualify for almost every IPL season. However, with Suresh Raina now being a retired entity along with the yellow army having its rare IPL playoffs fallout, someone like Faf Du Plessis now seems to be the trustworthy player of the team. 

For the last two seasons, Faf Du Plessis has been the established opener of the team and has almost scored more than 400 runs in each season. Last year, where every CSK batter had its fair share of struggles, it was du Plessis’s batting at the top, which added some stability for CSK. In IPL 2020, du Plessis played 13 games and scored a total of 449 runs at a healthy average of around 40. Despite playing a major anchoring role as a batsman, he maintained an impressive strike of 140.75 in his last IPL.

With CSK having a revamped squad, where there is a fair share of power-hitters and all-rounders, someone like du Plessis can again be expected to continue with his anchor role. Also, with matches happening at different venues, his batting will be valued more highly mainly because of the congruous batting technique.
