Kolkata Knight Riders’ improbable defeat against Mumbai Indians in the 5th league game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has left many surprised. A game that they were in complete control of eventually slipped out of reach as despite needing only 31 runs from 30 balls with more than half their wickets in hands in a chase of 153, a dramatic collapse led them to fall 10 runs behind the target and succumb to their 22nd loss against MI in the IPL history.

After Eoin Morgan asked MI to bat first, KKR bowlers did an exceptional job to restrict a heavyweight batting unit to merely 152. More surprisingly, the Indians went onto lose all of their wickets in the process of getting to the score, with as many as seven wickets falling in the last five overs courtesy of Andre Russell’s fifer in a two-over spell.

KKR was given a sturdy start as both Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill looked at ease during their 72-run opening stand. Although, KKR suffered a collapse and lost wickets in heaps to fall trap.

Virender Sehwag draws a hilarious comparison

Former India opener Virender Shewag is known for his carefree social media presence. He had expressed surprise at KKR’s approach and even questioned that the intent Eoin Morgan promised to show was nowhere to be seen during KKR’s chase.

After the Riders’ rather astonishing slipup, Sehwag drew a hilarious comparison through a WWE reference, where he referenced Mumbai Indians’ improbable fightback to the WWE legend, The Undertaker, rising from his coffin and choke-slamming Randy Orton.

Captioning the post “Mumbai Indians to KKR in the last 5 overs. Coming back from the dead #ipl #mivskkr.” Sehwag posted a GIF image of the now-retired wrestler gripping his WWE compatriot Randy Orton’s throat and ramming him back into the coffin from which he had risen. Given how MI made a compelling comeback, Sehwag’s analogy was only fitting.

MI is set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chennai on 17th April, with KKR following against Royal Challengers Bangalore a day later in an afternoon game.
