The seventeenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is currently in progress at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Winning the toss, the Kings’ skipper KL Rahul opted to field first. He mentioned about his team lacking smartness, apart from finding the wicket damp and sticky.

On a Head-to-Head count in the history of IPL of these two sides, Mumbai has a slight upper hand, winning 14 games to Punjab’s 12 in 26 IPL meetings. The last time these two sides met, the match went into a double Super Over, with Punjab finally emerging the winners. The former PBKS cricketer and the CricTracker expert VRV Singh, however, reckons that the Rohit Sharma-led side will be able to take an edge over KL Rahul and his men in this encounter and register their third win of the season.

Speaking at CricTracker’s live show ‘In The Air’, Singh reckoned that MI has an upper hand in the contest because of the recent form of their players, especially bowlers. “I would like to go with Mumbai Indians as I think they are looking in a good rhythm. Suryakumar Yadav has looked good, while skipper Rohit Sharma also has played well on a couple of occasions.”

He mentioned that Mumbai’s death bowling has been brilliant with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult being in the lineup. “Their death bowling has been excellent. As Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult have been great and we have seen what they have done in the end overs a couple of times already. So I think that MI has a clear advantage. I expect their middle-order batsmen to fire today,”, he said.
