The nineteenth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is currently in progress at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Winning the toss, the Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni opted to bat giving heat and the track slowing down later as the reason. This is both CSK’s and Wankhede’s first afternoon game of the season.

On a Head-to-Head count in the history of IPL of these two sides, Chennai has an upper hand, winning 16 games to Bangalore’s nine in 26 IPL meetings. Both the sides have played only one game against each other at the Wankhede Stadium, which was in the qualifier of IPL 2011 where CSK got the better of RCB, winning the match by 6 wickets. In the 2020 edition, both teams won a game against each other in the league stage.

The former PBKS cricketer and the CricTracker expert VRV Singh, however, reckons that the Virat Kohli-led side will be able to take an edge over MS Dhoni and his men in this encounter and continue their unbeaten streak of wins in the season.

The overall combination of RCB looks better: VRV Singh

Speaking at CricTracker’s live show ‘In The Air’, Singh reckoned that RCB has an upper hand in the contest because of the recent form of their players, especially batsmen. “I would like to go with RCB because the whole of their team is in great form. All of the batsmen are big names. If you look at Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Devdutt Padikkal, and Glenn Maxwell,” he said.

“And most importantly, all of them have scored runs so far. Kohli and Padikkal got runs in the previous game and de Villiers and Maxwell have been scoring already. Even their bowlers are a great unit. Mohammed Siraj has been impressive, Harshal Patel has been in great form from the start, and Yuzvendra Chahal can also get in at the venue”, he added. “The overall balance and combination of RCB looks better to me and they have winning momentum with them, so RCB is my pick,” concluded Singh.
