Siddarth Kaul played just one game in the league stages of IPL 2022. For a player, who has almost 60 wickets to his name in IPL cricket, it is quite surprising that he did not get much opportunity with Royal Challengers Bangalore. This comes down to the fact that Bangalore had a strong bowling attack, coming into the season.

The Indian duo of Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj have led the pace bowling attack for Bangalore. Australian quick, Josh Hazelwood joined in a bit later to form a pace bowling troika. Akash Deep did get a few opportunities, but was phased out of the side after the arrival of Josh Hazelwood. Given Siddarth Kaul’s experience, he was at least worthy of few opportunities.

Siddarth Kaul could have perhaps earned some game time, if he was picked by some other franchise at the IPL Auction. For instance, Mumbai Indians have struggled to find a bowler, who could accompany Jasprit Bumrah in the slog overs. Siddarth Kaul has shown his prowess of bowling in the death overs in the past, and could have played a big role for Mumbai Indians.
