The Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai is hosting the second match of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), which is being played between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and strong-looking Delhi Capitals. However, fans watching the match inside the stadium have expressed their displeasure over the seating arrangements.

Meanwhile, the five-champions after being invited to bat first on a flat looking pitch scored 177/5 in their 20 overs opening batter Ishan Kishan scoring 81* off just 48 balls. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav scalped three wickets, including MI skipper Rohit Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh and Kieron Pollard.

Fans not impressed with seating arrangements at the venue

Meanwhile, a fan shared a pic on Twitter slamming the ground management for installing plastic chairs for the spectators, while the tickets cost INR 3,ooo.

The stadium has a total capacity of 20,000 spectators, with the pavilions named Church Gate End and Pavilion End. The stadium was established in 1937 and named after the former Governor of Bombay, Lord Brabourne. The foundation stone for the stadium was laid in May 1936 and it took around one year for the project to get completed. The inauguration match was played between the CCI XI and Lord Tennyson’s XI.

Due to constant ticketing disputes with the management, the Bombay Cricket Association (BCA) constructed the famous Wankhede Stadium around 700 metres away from the Brabourne stadium. After the construction of Wankhede Stadium was completed, the Brabourne stadium was only used for first-class matches with the Indian team playing matches at the Wankhede.

However, in recent years, international cricket has made a way back to the stadium. Similarly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the stadium as the third venue for hosting IPL matches including the Wankhede and Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Punjab Kings in the second encounter on Sunday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy.
