Lucknow Super Giants have opened their account in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 points table with a thrilling six-wicket triumph over Chennai Super Kings. The encounter proceeded like a rollercoaster and went right down to the wire. LSG eventually chased down 211 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai to record their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, players and coaching staff of the two teams caught up following the conclusion of the game, and among them were CSK wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. The duo have played a lot of cricket together and a lot has been said and written about their relationship. There were rumours of bad blood between the two as Gambhir, who has been an active analyst after retirement, has openly criticized Dhoni’s batting style and tactics on several occasions.

It was also believed that Dhoni, the then Indian captain, had a hand in Gambhir’s ouster from the national team. Gambhir, however, in a recent interaction, cleared the air and rubbished the rumours of any rift between him and Dhoni. Meanwhile, the former teammates were seen having a chat after the game. Gambhir shared a couple of pictures from that interaction with the caption reading: “It was nice catching up skipper!”

I have so much of mutual respect for MS Dhoni: Gautam Gambhir

Meanwhile, Gambhir had stated that he has a lot of mutual respect for Dhoni and he would be the first one to support the former Indian skipper if any need arises. “See I have so much of mutual respect for him and it’ll always remain,” Gambhir said on Jatin Sapru’s YouTube show ‘Over and Out’,

“I’ve said it on air, I’ll say it on your channel, I can say it anywhere in front of 138 crore people, that if ever in need, I hope he’s never in need, but if ever in need in life, I’ll be the first one standing next to him because of what he’s done for Indian cricket, what he’s as a human being,” he added.
