IPL 2022: Jason Roy opts out of tournament citing bio bubble fatigue

Swashbuckling batter Jason Roy has decided not to participate in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) because of bio bubble fatigue. Roy has informed his franchise Gujarat Titans about his decision as well.

The righty handed batter was bought by the Gujarat Titans for a sum of INR 2 Crores. Roy has pulled out of the IPL in the past as well. In the 13th edition of the IPL, the Delhi Capitals outfit had bought the batter for INR 1.5 Crores, but he had decided not to participate in the tournament.

The 2022 edition of the IPL will be a 10-team affair, as two new IPL franchises, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have joined the fray.

Jason Roy was last seen in action in PSL 2022

Jason Roy last featured in the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 31-year-old was in excellent form throughout the tournament and plundered 303 runs in just 6 innings at an average of 50.50. Roy also scored a hundred and 2 fifties in the tournament as well.

In his IPL career, Roy has played 13 matches and scored 329 runs at an average of 29.91 and a strike rate of 129.02. The right-handed batter has also scored 2 half-centuries in his IPL career.

The 2022 edition of the IPL is slated to kick off on 26th March 2022. The opening match of the tournament will see the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locking horns with two-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The tournament will conclude on 29th May 2022.

The 2022 edition of the IPL will be played in the state of Maharashtra, with the matches taking place across Mumbai and Pune. The Chennai Super Kings emerged as the winners of the 2021 IPL season and beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the summit clash of the competition which took place in Dubai.
