Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians face each other in the 14th match of IPL 2022, to be played at the MCA International Stadium at Pune. Kolkata Knight Riders have played three matches this season, winning two and losing one. They are at the second place in the points table, also having the second-best net-run-rate. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have begun in a disappointing way, with two losses in a row. One more loss might put them under serious pressure in the ten-team tournament. Notably, both the teams will be playing their first match in Pune this season.

Kolkata Knight Riders have won both the games where they chased targets, but lost their only game they batted first this season. Their opening bowler Umesh Yadav, who didn’t play the entire previous season, is now leading the Purple Cap chart. Also his opening bowler Tim Southee was as good, with five wickets in just two games. With Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy also doing well, they would like to continue such form with the ball. The top-order batting might seek to improve their consistency, though Andre Russell in the middle has returned to his destructive batting form.

Mumbai Indians, playing in their home city, have lost both their first two games, one batting first and one chasing. Despite the veterans Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard not getting to the best of starts, the most expensive auctioned player of this season Ishan Kishan rightly proved his worth with two fifties in two games. MI’s 19-year-old Tilak Varma at No.4 has impressed with a 33-ball-63 in the last game. Their five bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah, Daniel Sams, Basil Thampi, Murugan Ashwin and Tymal Mills had their moments, but none of them could do good in both the games.
