Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continued their solid start in the tournament as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in Match 15 of IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. K Gowtham took 1/23 and Ravi Bishnoi 2/22 as both bowled brilliant spells with Quinton de Kock smashing 80 runs to script the third victory for LSG this IPL season. DC, led by Rishabh Pant, have now lost two out of the three matches played in the campaign so far.

Talking about how the northern derby panned out, KL Rahul won the toss and LSG opted to field first. They made one change with K Gowtham replacing the out-of-form batter Manish Pandey. DC made three changes with David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan, and Anrich Nortje all coming in place of Tim Seifert, Mandeep Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed respectively.

Prithvi Shaw was at his destructive best as the right-handed opener smashed 61 runs off just 34 deliveries with nine fours and two sixes. David Warner and Rovman Powell made just four and three runs respectively with skipper Pant scoring an unbeaten 39 runs and Sarfaraz Khan 36* to take their side to a total of 149/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 150 runs, Rahul scored 24 runs off 25 balls as Evin Lewis got dismissed for just five runs. The star of the run-chase for LSG was wicketkeeper batter De Kock who slammed 80 runs off 52 deliveries with nine fours and two maximums. Krunal Pandya and young Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten at the end to finish off the chase for their side in the final over.

Anrich Nortje had a forgettable first outing as he conceded 35 runs in his 2.2 overs spell. LSG with six points moved to second place below Kolkata Knight Riders in the table while DC with just two points slipped to the seventh spot. For his classy and match-winning knock, Quinton de Kock was declared the Player of the Match.
