Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on a strong-looking Delhi Capitals (DC) side in a group stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The match will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 16 (Saturday). While the Capitals managed to pip Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their previous match, the Red Army lost their last encounter against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Without their premier pacer Harshal Patel, RCB ended up giving 216 runs in their 20 overs against CSK. However, the Red Army managed to score 193 runs in their reply, with some vital contributions from Shahbaz Ahmed (41 off 27 balls), Suyash Prabhudessai (34 off 18 balls) and wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik (34 off 14 balls). RCB will look to get back to winning ways by defeating the Capitals in their upcoming encounter.

Here’s a look at the Royal Challengers Bangalore predicted XI against DC:

Openers: Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat

Both Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat have had a mixed season so far. Skipper Faf du Plessis started his 2022 season with an excellent 57-ball 88 against Punjab Kings, but then saw a dip in his consistency since then. The right-handed batter has managed to score just 58 runs in his next four matches.

Similarly, young opener Anuj Rawat also played a match-winning knock of 66 runs against Mumbai Indians. However, the left-handed batter has not played any significant knock for his team since then, despite getting some starts. Rawat will look to perform well against DC.

Middle Order: Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik (wk)

Senior batter Virat Kohli has been performing well for his side in the current edition of the IPL. The right-handed batter has made two 40+ scores in five matches and played a crucial role for his side during their encounter against MI. However, Kohli (1 off 3 balls) failed to get going against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in RCB’s last match. The fans are yet to see the best of Kohli in IPL 2022 and he might showcase his talent against the Capitals.

Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been RCB’s saviour with some memorable performances in the middle order. The right-handed batter has given some excellent finishes to the Red Army and will want to continue his batting antics against DC as well. Incidentally, Karthik was dismissed for the first time in five matches in the last game against CSK.

Similarly, young batter Suyash Prabhudessai also impressed in his first match for RCB. The right-handed batter played a vital knock of 34 in just 18 balls, hitting five fours and one six. The 24-year-old will also want to perform well for the Red Army in the upcoming match.

All-Rounders: Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed and Wanindu Hasaranga

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell showed some glimpses of his hitting prowess against CSK in the last encounter. The 33-year-old scored 26 off just 11 balls, hitting two fours and an equal number of maximums before getting cleaned up by Ravindra Jadeja. Maxwell will want to improve his batting performance further in the next match.

Shahbaz Ahmed, on the other hand, has proved his mettle as a middle-order batter. In the last five games, the left-handed batter has scored 113 runs but is yet to feature in the wickets column with the ball in hand. On the other hand, Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been the most consistent performer for the Red Army with the ball. Hasaranga has picked up ten wickets from five matches so far and will want to continue his good form against the Capitals as well.

Bowlers: Josh Hazlewood, Siddarth Kaul, and Mohammed Siraj

The Red Army missed the services of their premier pacer Harshal Patel in the previous match against CSK, as they went on to concede 216 runs in their 20 overs. The pacer is likely to be unavailable for the game against DC as well. Pacer Siddarth Kaul is also expected to replace young pacer Akash Deep. Talking about his numbers in the IPL, Kaul has registered 58 scalps to his name from 54 appearances so far.

Playing his first match for RCB, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood only managed to get one wicket under his belt. The right-arm pacer gave away 33 runs in his four-over quota. He will want to scalp some vital wickets for his side with the new ball. Pacer Mohammed Siraj is also expected to play a supporting role to the Australian pacer.

RCB Predicted XI: Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli, Shahbaz Ahmed, Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudesai, Dinesh Karthik, Wanindu Hasaranga, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammad Siraj, Josh Hazlewood
