Devon Conway continued his stellar form and scored his third consecutive half-century to propel Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a massive total of 208/6 in 20 overs. As a result, the defending champions subsequently defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs in Match 55 of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Classy Conway made 87 runs off just 49 deliveries with seven fours and five sixes while Moeen Ali took 3/13 in his four overs spell to register the fourth victory for CSK.

Speaking about how the match went by, Rishabh Pant won the toss as DC elected to field first. They made two changes with Axar Patel and Srikar Bharat coming in place of Lalit Yadav and Mandeep Singh respectively. CSK also made a couple of changes as Dwaine Pretorius replaced Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja made way for Shivam Dube. Ruturaj Gaikwad also supported the Kiwi Conway as he amassed 41 runs off 33 deliveries with the pair registering their second 100-plus opening stand this season.

Dube came in at no. three and struck 32 runs off 19 balls with two fours and as many maximums. Skipper MS Dhoni provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 21 runs off just eight balls to take his side to a total of above 200 runs. Anrich Nortje took 3/42 while Khaleel Ahmed continued his good form to pick 2/28 in his four overs spell.

Chasing a mammoth target of 209, Bharat managed to score only eight runs while David Warner was dismissed for 19 runs. Mitchell Marsh looked in good touch but he fell for 25 runs with captain Pant getting out for 21 runs. Both the players were dismissed to Moeen Ali as the Englishman punctured DC’s innings. Rovman Powell scored only three runs with no DC player even crossing the 30-run mark.

Mukesh Choudhary, Simarjeet Singh, and Dwayne Bravo all took two wickets apiece to bundle out the Capitals side for just 117 runs. With ten points, Pant’s side finds themselves in the fifth position in the table while the Men in Yellow with eight points moved above Kolkata Knight Riders on the basis of net run rate. For his scintillating knock of 87 runs, Devon Conway was named the Player of the Match award.
