Virat Kohli finally managed to score his first fifty in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday (April 30) against Gujarat Titans. While he wasn’t at his fluent best, the man scored 58 runs off 53 deliveries and during his knock, played some brilliant strokes as well giving hope to the fans that he is returning to his best sooner than later.

He opened the innings with the skipper Faf du Plessis but the latter got out for a duck in the second over of the innings itself. Kohli, however, looked determined on the day and made sure to stick around in the middle. He played a couple of gorgeous shots before unfurling his trademark cover drive hinting his return to form. Rajat Patidar did well to play at a quick pace which allowed the former RCB captain to play the anchor’s role.

Finally, in the scorching heat of Mumbai, Virat Kohli got to his fifty in the 13th over of the innings off Mohammed Shami’s bowling taking a single. There was more relief for him than delight on the occasion and moreover, even Shami, despite being on the opposite side, congratulated him tapping on his helmet and hugging him sideways as well. Kohli too, at that time, was more frustrated and relieved of getting some runs finally for his team.
