IPL 2022: Pravin Tambe gets emotional during special screening of his biopic for KKR players

Kolkata Knight Riders players watched the biopic of coach Pravin Tambe in a special screening recently. To note, Tambe made his debut in Indian Premier League (IPL) at the age of 41 in 2013 edition.

The now 50-year-old balanced his day work and cricket at the same time during starting years of struggle and found it difficult to make a cut into any domestic team. However, his struggle and hard work paid off as he came into the eyes of Rajasthan Royals scout before 2013 IPL.

Tambe made his debut for the former IPL champions in 2013 and went on to play for other franchises like Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders before he was appointed as the coach of KKR. A biopic film ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe’ has been made on his life and it was screened recently for KKR players, which is also his last franchise in the league.

After the screening, the 50-year-old gave a short speech and got emotional. However, the spinner ended up inspiring his fellow players saying, “Never give up on your dreams, they do come true.”

“We were waiting for the screening for a long time. The film is amazing. The songs are good and in the end the film made us very emotional as well,” KKR captain Shreyas Iyer  said after the screening.

Talking about Tambe numbers in IPL, he played 33 matches in which he managed to scalp 28 wickets at an average of 30.46. Tambe was quite economical as well, giving away 7.75 runs per over. He also had a four-wicket haul in toughest cricket league of the world.

Meanwhile, KKR, after defeating the defending champions Chennai Super Kings, lost their second encounter of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The two-time champions will take on Punjab Kings in their next match on April 1 (Friday).
