Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw missed out on the previous game for the team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). While many expected for him to make his comeback for the encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (May 8), it is unlikely to happen now as Shaw has been admitted to hospital due to fever. Mandeep Singh replaced him at the top of the order for his side but bagged a six-ball duck.

He is expected to get yet another chance against CSK now with Shaw down with fever and in hospital. The exact details of when he Prithvi Shaw was hospitalised remain unclear at the moment and the news was only revealed when the cricketer posted a story on his official Instagram handle on Sunday (May 8).

“Admitted in hospital and recovering from fever. Thank you all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon,” the cricketer wrote on in his story while also posting his smiling picture in hospital.

How has Prithvi Shaw fared in IPL 2022?

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has fared decently in the ongoing season with the bat while opening the innings with David Warner. The duo has got the team off to a great start on multiple occasions. The Mumbai cricketer has so far scored 259 runs in nine innings at a strike-rate of 159.87 and average of 28.77 with two half-centuries to his name. He will be itching to get back to the field with the Delhi Capitals fighting it out to make it to the playoffs.

The Rishabh Pant-led side is currently at the fifth position in the points table with five wins and as many losses in 10 matches so far. They will have to win all their four matches to make sure they are not dependent on other results to seal their playoffs spot. However, a few other teams are also in the race and it might get very close in the end.
