The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 resumes with the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 26th. This match will be a momentous occasion as the 15th edition of the IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to the pandemic. Ardent cricket fans are all set to witness nail-biting matches, cheering for their favourite players at the most anticipated cricket tournament of all time.

Audience occupancy rate will be of 25%
The matches will be played across stadiums in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai & Pune with an audience occupancy rate of 25% as per COVID-19 protocols. In all, 20 matches each will be held at Wankhede Stadium & DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International stadium, Pune.
Meanwhile, IPL 2022 is set to be a grand affair with two new teams – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – coming into the picture. Hence, for the very first time since the 2011 season, a total of 10 teams will battle it out for the gala title. It also must be noted that the eight existing sides have gone under massive revamps in the mega auction last month.
Hence, several line-ups will wore new look. With the tournament getting expanded, there has been an enhancement in the number of matches. Hence, IPL 2022 will span over two months with the final taking place on May 29. All sides will play 14 games in the league stage with four spots in the playoffs at stakes.
Having won the previous edition, MS Dhoni’s CSK will start off as defending champions and fight for their fifth title. The first few games of the competition will see several teams taking the field without some of their overseas players. However, this issue is likley to get sorted by the second week of April.
