Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill came up with a savage response for the trolls after playing a match-winning knock against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (May 10). As the track at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune had a lot of assistance for bowlers, batters of both sides endured a hard time. The only half-century in the contest came off Gill’s blade as the young opener played a sensible knock.

The 22-year-old was watchful at the start of the first innings as wickets were falling regularly at the other end. However, he didn’t put a foot wrong and brought up his fourth half-century of the season. He ended up scoring an unbeaten 63 off 49 deliveries as GT posted 144/4 in their allotted 20 overs, which proved to be enough.

Fans had called Shubman Gill’s approach ‘lackluster’

Gill’s ‘slow’ knock had earned a lot of criticism as fans called his approach ‘lackluster’. However, on the very same track, LSG were bundled out for 82, losing the contest by 62 runs. As the Super Giants have a formidable batting line-up, their failure certainly exposed the demons in the surface and fans realized the relevance of Gill’s knock. The youngster was even named the Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, Gill took to Twitter after the game and shut down the trolls in an epic manner. Reacting to the criticism over his knock, the right-handed batter came up with two emojis – one of a tortoise and the other one of a hare – to convey his message. “Slow and steady wins the race,” he apparently meant.

Following the conclusion of the game, the opener narrated how challenging it was to get going in the middle. “Always pleasing when you’re there till the end and finish the game for your team. I didn’t expect the ball to seam as much at the start. It was nipping around, and then I expected the spinners to get some turn,” stated the star batter.
