Weaknesses – Lack of spin bowling options

The side that boasted of some quality spinners in their team over the last couple of seasons is a little weak in the department for the 2022 season. Having let go of R Ashwin and Amit Mishra, Delhi have lost out on the valuable experience that those cricketers brought to the side.

Though they have retained left-arm orthodox bowler Axar Patel, who has done well for them in the past, the Capitals do lack a spinner that can run through sides on his day. Left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is another talented bowler that they have in their squad. However, Yadav’s performance has been on a decline at the IPL in the recent past. Having not been in the best of forms, he often appears to be lacking confidence when a batter goes after him.

Apart from Patel and Yadav, the Delhi Capitals do not have too many proven spinners in their squad, which could come to haunt them given how much the wickets in India support spin bowling.
