Umran Malik has become a household name in a short span of time and is backed to go a long way. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, this right-arm speedster can set the speed gun on fire and his control and accuracy is getting better with each game. The Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler took a four-fer in his last outing against Punjab Kings and is determined to put up a similar or even better show in his upcoming assignments.

So far, Malik has scalped nine wickets in six games. The fast-bowling sensation will next take the field on Saturday (April 23) during the clash between SRH and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 22-year-old has set some particular milestones for the game as he’s determined to take Virat Kohli’s wicket. Umran picked Kohli and KL Rahul as two of the best batters he would like to dismiss.

I am a big fan of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul: Umran Malik

While he couldn’t dismiss Rahul during the clash against Lucknow Super Giants, he’s determined to pierce Kohli’s defenses. “Wanted to get KL Rahul out. I tried that out in our last match (SRH vs LSG). Our next match is against RCB and I would aim to get Kohli bhai out. I am a big fan of both these players (KL Rahul and Virat Kohli). I can only give my hundred per cent, rest is in God’s hand,” said the youngster in a conversation with Sports Tak.

Malik’s journey to glory has truly been inspiring as SRH picked him last year only as a short-term replacement for T Natarajan, who had contracted COVID-19. The pacer burst onto the scenes with his ability to deliver thunderbolts and was even retained by SRH ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.

Kohli, who led RCB last year, had also lauded Malik after facing him in a match. “Whenever you see talent like this, you are going to have your eyes on them and make sure you maximise their potential,” the 33-year-old had said in the post-match presentation last year.
