IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap lists after MI vs LSG and DC vs RCB

Both LSG and RCB managed to get two crucial points in the points table.

Cricket fans witnessed a run-fest in Saturday’s double-header in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beating Mumbai Indians in the afternoon match and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coming on top against the Delhi Capitals (DC).

In the first match, skipper Rohit Sharma after winning the toss invited LSG to have a bat first and they took the opportunity with both hands as they scored 199 runs in their allotted 20 overs. LSG skipper KL Rahul (103* off 60 balls) was excellent with the bat along with Quinton de Kock (24 off 13 balls) and Manish Pandey (38 off 29 balls)

For MI, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat (two wickets), West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen (one wicket), and Murugan Ashwin (one wicket) were the successful bowlers.

In reply, MI could only manage to score 181 runs in their allotted 20 overs. MI batters Dewald Brevis (31 off 13 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (37 off 27 balls), Tilak Varma (26 off 26 balls), and Kieron Pollard (25 off 14 balls) tried their best to win the match for MI. However, it was too much of a task for them.

For LSG,  Avesh Khan, Jason Holder, Dushmanta Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, and Marcus Stoinis were among the wickets column.

RCB beat DC in a high-scoring encounter

After being asked to bat first, RCB managed to put 189 runs on the board with some excellent knocks by Glenn Maxwell (55 off 34 balls), Dinesh Karthik (66* off 34 balls), and Shahbaz Ahmed (32* off 21 balls). Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav scalped one wicket each for the capitals.

In reply, DC could only manage to score 173 runs in their 20 overs. David Warner (66 off 38 balls) and skipper Rishabh Pant (34 off 17 balls) were the main contributors to the Capitals. Pacer Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for RCB scalping three wickets. After winning their match against MI, LSG climbed to the second spot in the points table. RCB has also reached sixth place. Meanwhile, MI after losing their sixth straight match is placed right at bottom of the table. DC are placed two spots ahead of MI in the eighth position
