Known for his audacious batting and flamboyant attitude, Baz drove the crowd into a frenzy every time he stepped in to bat. Brendon McCullum lit up the IPL in the very first game with a blistering knock of 158* against RCB. He played for Kolkata and Kochi until the 2014 auction where CSK procured his services.

McCullum, with Dwayne Smith, formed one of the most dangerous IPL opening pairs. Playing two seasons for CSK, the Kiwi scored runs with a strike rate of 138 and an average of 32 which included a hundred against Hyderabad. With the ban on the CSK, Gujarat Lions grabbed him where he fared decently for a couple of years. He was once again available in the auction but CSK decided not to retain or buy him.

McCullum has been in good form this year in Big Bash scoring 258 runs at an average of 23. Their current opener Shane Watson is going through a lean patch in 2019 and CSK might rue on the loss of McCullum.
