Playing XI-

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Virat Kohli (C), Lokesh Rahul (wk), Mandeep Singh, AB de Villiers, Shane Watson, Sarfaraz Khan, Stuart Binny, Harshal Patel, Kane Richardson, Iqbal Abdulla, Tabraiz Shamsi

Rising Pune Supergiants:

Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen, Steven Smith, MS Dhoni (wk/C), Thisara Perera, Rajat Bhatia, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ankit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Murugan Ashwin

The RCB captain lost his 4th toss in a row. Virat Kohli said: “Firstly, I think I need to send someone else for the toss. I have lost 4 in a row now. Not a good stat that. It is a very strange situation where teams chasing have won the match. I think people are getting smarter at chasing totals. The surface looks good. I did not play the T20 against Sri Lanka here, that looked pretty damp. It is pretty hard and should remain so. But there will be a bit of dew and that is why they have decided to chase. Two changes today. We have got Tabraiz Shamsi in place of Travis Head and Mandeep Singh in place of Varun Aaron.”

Pune skipper MS Dhoni said: “We will bowl first. I think that’s the result that has happened so far. But I do not think that will keep happening. Some of the teams have not scored the extra 10 runs batting first and that has a big impact. So far the results have indicated that the team that has chased has won. We have played 5-6 games here. It is difficult to predict what the wicket will do here. Bit of breeze around so fast bowlers will get a bit of help. We will see how the first innings go and then make our mind. We have made one change. We have got Rajat in place of Irfan.”

In match number 16 of IPL 9, Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at their home ground the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune. RPS won the toss and decided to bowl first.
