IPL 9 is 23 matches old and now all the teams are trying to nose ahead of the other. A win can help the sides from the bottom four to jump to the upper half of the table. The Delhi Daredevils had their chance to make it to the top of the points table, had they defeated Gujarat Lions at Delhi. But Gujarat won the cliffhanger to go to the top of the points table (5/6) with 10 points and a healthy net run rate. Delhi made no difference to their spot in the points table despite their defeat the other night.
Kolkata Knight Riders slipped to the number 2 spot and will have a chance to get back to the top if they beat the Mumbai Indians tonight.
IPL 9 Points table:
TEAMS | MAT | WON | PTS | NET RR |
Gujarat Lions | 6 | 5 | 10 | 0.037 |
Kolkata Knight Riders | 5 | 4 | 8 | 0.922 |
Delhi Daredevils | 5 | 3 | 6 | 0.244 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad | 6 | 3 | 6 | -0.086 |
Mumbai Indians | 7 | 3 | 6 | -0.268 |
Rising Pune Supergiants | 6 | 2 | 4 | 0.32 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore | 5 | 2 | 4 | 0.23 |
Kings XI Punjab | 6 | 1 | 2 | -1.174 |
The Orange Cap is still with the RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who has been in scintillating form this season with 367 runs. He is followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner, who remains at the second spot following a duck in the match against the Rising Pune Supergiants. The match between Delhi Daredevils and the Gujarat Lions saw not many changes in the Orange Cap list but one. Quinton de Kock swapped places with Aaron Finch, who missed the match due a hamstring injury.
If the KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir scores another 55 runs in the match against Mumbai, he will move up the table to the second spot, behind Virat Kohli.
