IPL 9: Points table, Purple Cap, Orange Cap and fixtures after the MI v KXIP Match 43

IPL 9 is now getting towards its business end when all teams are closing in to get to the playoffs stage. Mumbai Indians suffered a crushing defeat against the Kings XI Punjab to slip to the 5th spot in the points table with 12 points. Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, have moved up from the last spot to the 7th spot after their long stay at the bottom of the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad are on the top of the points table with 14 points. Gujarat Lions are also on 14 points but with a poorer net run rate. Delhi Daredevils and the Kolkata Knight Riders follow in next with 12 points.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Gujarat Lions and hope to keep their chances of making it to the playoffs alive. They need to win their remaining matches to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.

Virat Kohli tops the list of Orange with a lead with 568 runs to his name. He could add just 7 runs in the game against the Mumbai Indians. He will have his opportunity to extend the lead a little more in the match against Gujarat Lions at home today. He is followed by Sunrisers skipper David Warner who has 515 runs to his name thus far. Rohit Sharma has moved to the third spot with 428 runs to his name and is followed by Rising Pune Supergiants opener Ajinkya Rahane with 417 runs.
AB de Villiers is at the 5th spot with 409 runs in 10 matches. He will have a chance to add to his tally today at Bengaluru.

Mumbai Indians pacer Mitch McClenaghan picked up a couple of wickets, in a losing cause, though, to extend his lead on the top with 17 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Andre Russell and Shane Watson follow in next with 14 wickets. RCB’s Shane Watson will have a chance to take hold of the Purple cap when they play the Gujarat Lions. Andre Russell, too, will have his go at the Purple Cap in the night game against the Rising Pune Supergiants at Kolkata.
Kings XI Punjab bowler Sandeep Sharma has moved to the 6th spot and has 12 wickets to his name at an impressive economy of 7. Mustafizur Rahman has the best economy rate among all the bowlers.
