Being asked to bat first Suresh Raina said: “We have done well as a unit. Important to play with the same intent. Very difficult when Virat bats second, so important to get Virat out early. Would have bowled first too. The team have shown great discipline and it’s about building partnerships tonight. It’s been good (when Ravi Shastri mentioned about parenthood). We are playing with the same eleven.”

After winning the toss RCB skipper Virat Kohli said: “We will bowl first. Looks a typical Bengaluru wicket and should not change much through the game. And we are confident of chasing any score here at this stadium. This is something we are looking forward to. We didn’t expect to finish in the top 2 but that’s what NRR does; it was more like 2 points for us. We have to just take advantage of playing at home. We are playing with the same team.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore host the Gujarat Lions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore for the Qualifier 1 of IPL 9. RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first.
