IPL Auctions have always been a funny and tensed place for the team owners, as they try to get the targetted players at the lowest price possible. While the likes of Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore have been the high-spenders in the Auctions, it was the Kings XI Punjab Preity Zinta who went in hard at the Auction.

Zinta went hard from the word go as she tried her hand at outbidding with the various franchises, after having retained the services of the Indian all-rounder Axar Patel for 6.75 crores. The KXIP management knew that they had a purse of nearly 67.5 crores in their hand, while also having 3 Right to Match (RTM) card at their disposal.

Kings XI Punjab opened the bidding for the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, at 2 crores to get him at 5.2 crores, before Sunrisers Hyderabad used their RTM Card to retain their player. The next player that was up for the auction was the Chennai Super Kings spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. CSK opened the bidding for their player, only to be outbid by Zinta at 7.6 crore rupees.

Zinta’s further bids

Zinta further followed it up with bids for Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes, Kieron Pollard, Mitchell Starc before the other franchises got the respective players. However, she followed it up with aggressive bidding for Dwayne Bravo and was sold to KXIP for 6.4 crores before CSK used the RTM card to retain the all-rounder.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who is the mentor for KXIP took to Twitter to troll the team owner “Ladkiyon ko shopping ka shock hota hai. Preity full on shopping ke mood mein hain. Har cheez khareedni hai”. The funny and entertaining Sehwag struck again as Preity Zinta continued to bid for every player at their disposal.

Zinta also acquired Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul and Karun Nair who would form part of the heavy Indian top-order for the Punjab side. Further, Zinta used the RTM card to retain the services of the South African middle-order batsman David Miller in their squad.
