The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Delhi Daredevils (DD) franchise Hemant Dua has stepped down from his position. He served at the position for six long years but the team couldn’t live up the expectations during his tenure. Despite overhauling the squad on a repeated basis, Delhi never qualified for the playoffs in the last six years. However, Dua has expressed his happiness to be able to serve DD during this period.
The resignation was always on the cards as the team endured yet another poor season in the IPL. The newly appointed skipper Gautam Gambhir failed to lead from the front in the first half of the tournament after which he stepped down from the position and then was also dropped from the team. Shreyas Iyer took over from him and the team performed a bit better under him.
There is a possibility that he will continue at the helm for them and hope for a better performance next year. More than anything, the franchise will hope that they don’t end up at the last position which has been the case for the last few years.
The franchise is close to my heart
The news of Hemant Dua resigning from the position was announced by JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited. From September 1, he will serve on board of the JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited as a Non-Executive Director. Dua went on to say that he will always be available for the betterment of the franchise even though he will not be at the helm now.
“DD has been a part of my journey for some time now. The franchise is close to my heart and thus, I will always be available for the betterment of the franchise. I wish DD and it’s new management the very best in its endeavour to bring the trophy to our own city of Delhi,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
