The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a 10-team affair. And, the two new cities that have joined the fray are Ahmedabad and Lucknow. The bidding process for the 2 additional teams was completed on 26th October 2021.

While the RPSG Group shelled out a humongous sum of INR 7090 Crores to buy the Lucknow franchise, the Ahmedabad side was bought by the CVC Capital Partners for INR 5625 Crores.

And now, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has offered his thoughts on the IPL becoming a 10-team tournament from 2022. Vaughan tweeted that with the two new franchises being bought for huge sums of money, it is clear that the IPL is the most powerful entity in the game of cricket. The 46-year-old also added that people will now get to see more matches being played in the IPL going forward.

“With the 2 new franchises going for huge numbers it’s now very clear the IPL is the most powerful aspect of game now. It’s inevitable that we will see more games & longer tournaments,” tweeted Vaughan.
