Shikhar Dhawan emerged as the catalyst with the willow for the Delhi Capitals (DC) side on 20th April 2021 in the match against the Mumbai Indians (MI). In a knock that lasted 42 deliveries, the left-hander scored a classy 45 as the Rishabh Pant-led side beat the Rohit Sharma-led side with 6 wickets to spare.
Steve Smith provided good support to Dhawan and scored a sedate 33 off 29 deliveries. Apart from Dhawan and Smith, Lalit Yadav and Shimron Hetmyer contributed useful cameos to help the Delhi Capitals post their third victory in the 14th edition of the IPL.
For the Mumbai Indians, the likes of Jayant Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, and Kieron Pollard picked up a wicket apiece.
Amit Mishra rips through the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting line up
Delhi Capitals’ leg spinner Amit Mishra wreaked havoc with the ball to help the Rishabh Pant-led side to restrict the Mumbai Indians (MI) to a total of just 137/9. Mishra scalped the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and Hardik Pandya in his 4 over spell.
For the Mumbai side, only skipper Rohit Sharma looked comfortable out in the middle. The ‘Hitman’ scored a fluent 44 off 30 deliveries at the top of the order. Even though the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan contributed useful runs, they could not capitalize on their starts.
Jayant Yadav contributed a handy 23 lower down the order. But then, the Delhi bowlers did not allow the Mumbai innings to blossom and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals.
With this thumping victory, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have moved to second place in the points table, while the Mumbai Indians (M) are currently occupying the fourth place.
