The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is still a few months away but with the auction coming up in a few days time, the cash-rich league continues to rake up news for a variety of reasons. The auction is set to take place in Kolkata on December 19th in what is expected to be a glitzy affair.

It is said that you win half of the IPL at the auction table but it is not only how you perform at the event but the manner in which one scouts talent that ultimately paves the way in deciding the future of the franchise. Mumbai Indians are one of the best examples of talent scouting, and if the reports are to be believed, they could have another high-profile name joining the scouting team.

According to a report published in Times of India, Pravin Amre could join the talent scout head team of the high-profile franchise. Mumbai Indians’ high-profile owners were hugely impressed with Amre’s penchant for developing talent and taking it to Delhi- where he previously led the scout team.

Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya were discovered by the Mumbai Indians scouts

Mumbai Indians talent scout squads have unearthed some precocious talent over the years; one that has not only helped the team turn into a really strong unit but also has gone to play for the country. The likes of Aditya Tare, Krunal Pandya, Mayank Markande, Hardik Pandya and the biggest of them all- Jasprit Bumrah– were all found and nurtured by the talent scouting team-led by John Wright.

And, Rohit Sharma has always made it a point to acknowledge the work done by the scouts. “Mumbai’s scouts should be given credit for travelling to remote places and finding these talents. When we found Bumrah and Axar (Patel) playing in of the district-level matches in Gujarat, we went and watched them play.

“Although Bumrah didn’t get to play the first few years, look where he is right now. The same with Hardik [Pandya], Krunal [Pandya] and Mayank [Markande]. It’s great to see these players take their game to the next level,” Rohit had said in the lead up to the previous IPL season.

Pravin Amre will join a highly talented talent-scout team boasting of former India coach John Wright and former Indian players like Kiran More, Abey Kuruvilla, and TA Sekhar.
