The Sunrisers Hyderabad are the latest side among the eight active teams of the Indian Premier League. The Hyderabad franchise took over from the Deccan Chargers in the 2013 edition and has enjoyed a fair bit of success. They got hold of the title in the 2016 edition and fell one step short in 2018 where they lost in the final.

The SRH team is known to be the team with the best bowling line-up due to the presence of some of the key T20 bowlers. Their title-winning skipper David Warner stands as the backbone of the batting line-up who has an impeccable record for the Hyderabad team.

Here we look the happenings of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the first time in the history of IPL:

First ball and first run:

Akshath Reddy faced the first ball of IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the bowling of Marlon Samuels. Akshath got off the mark with a single on the very first ball. (Over 0.1 – Inns No.1 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First four:

Akshath Reddy also scored the first four of SRH in the IPL as he hit one through the extra cover in the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. (Over 1.6 – Inns No.1 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First six:

Thisara Perera struck the first six of the IPL for Sunrisers as he sent one to the stands in the long-on region while facing Marlon Samuels. (Over 16.4 – Inns No.1 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First wicket and catch:

The first wicket picked by SRH in the IPL was off Robin Uthappa of Pune Warrior. Thisara Perera was the bowler while keeper Parthiv Patel took the catch. (Over 6.5 – Inns No.2 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First stumping:

Parthiv Patel registered SRH’s first catch of the IPL and also the first stumping of the franchise. Parthiv completed a stumping in the bowling of Amit Mishra to dismiss Yuvraj Singh. (Over 9.5 – Inns No.2 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First runout:

Mitchell Marsh was the first runout victim of SRH in the IPL when the stumps at non-strikers’ end were broken due to the deflection caused by Thisara Perera while bowling. (Over 17.1 – Inns No.2 vs PWI in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First fifty:

Cameron White recorded SRH’s maiden IPL fifty when he made 52 off 34 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes against RCB. (in Bangalore on April 9, 2013)


First century:

The first IPL century scored for the Sunrisers was David Warner’s 126 in the 2017 edition against KKR. Warner amassed 126 from only 59 balls with 10 fours and 8 maximums.


First maiden over:

Dale Steyn bowled the first maiden over of SRH in the IPL during the first over of their game against Delhi Capitals. Steyn removed David Warner on the 4th ball after three successive dot balls. Mahela Jayawardene didn’t get a chance to score a run on the remaining two balls.


First hat-trick:

The first IPL hat-trick for SRH was registered by Amit Mishra who dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Ashok Dinda for golden ducks in successive balls. (18th over – Inns No.2 vs PWI in Pune on April 17, 2013)


First 5-wicket haul:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed the first 5-wicket haul of SRH in the IPL during the 2017 edition against KXIP. He recorded bowling figures of 5/19 across the four overs. (in Hyderabad on April 17, 2017)


First win:

Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first match of IPL by defeating Pune Warriors India in their debut game. (in Hyderabad on April 5, 2013)


First title:

The Sunrisers Hyderabad team qualified for the final of IPL for the first time in 2016. They converted their first appearance in the final into a title by defeating RCB by 8 runs. (in Bangalore on May 29, 2016)
