The ‘Universe Boss’, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-had-enough-now-chris-gayle-threatens-to-block-yuzvendra-chahals-instagram-account/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Chris Gayle</a> has played some unfathomable innings in T20 cricket especially the IPL. He has been a trailblazer and was one of the reasons IPL came to be associated with big hitting in the initial seasons. Gayle has scored 4484 runs in just 125 games with 28 fifties, of which 5 came under 25 balls, to go along with six centuries.
Gayle, in his prime, perhaps was the most devastating batsman to bowl to. He had the ability to deposit any ball into the stands with relative easy. With 326 sixes, he is also the highest six-hitter in the IPL by a fair margin. Gayle’s fastest half century was against a hapless Pune Warriors India in 2013 where he rampaged his way through to a 17-ball half century.
As we all know, he didn&#8217;t stop there and had gone on to score the highest T20 score ever, 175*. With the ability the southpaw had, it might be surprising that he has only 5 half centuries under 25 balls. But Gayle was always a player who started off cautiously initially, before taking off. Had Gayle been as ruthless up front, he would have definitely had at least twice the number of 50s under 25 balls.
<h3>4. AB de Villiers &#8211; 6</h3>

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-virat-kohli-recreates-superman-catch-of-ab-de-villiers-in-rcb-training-session/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AB de Villiers</a>, arguably the best and most complete batsman of the 21st Century, has plundered bowling attacks in the way only he can. An IPL stalwart, De Villiers has scored 4535 runs in 157 games with as many as 35 half centuries, of which 6 have come under 25 balls, along with 3 tons. De Villiers has been a player who can adapt to any match situation.
He has played the anchor a number of times for RCB and rescued them from precarious situations. But it is when he has gone after the bowlers that de Villiers has been an absolute phenomenon. His fastest half century had come against Rajasthan Royals in 2012 when he smoked RR’s relatively inexperienced bowlers all around the park.
But it was in 2014 that De Villiers scored perhaps his best half century ever. Chasing against SRH, and with 28 needed of the last 2 overs, ABD destroyed the World’s best bowler, Dale Steyn, picking up 24 runs off his over and reaching his half century in 23 balls. De Villiers has given the viewers innumerable such innings to enjoy and is still going strong.
<h3>3. Virender Sehwag &#8211; 6</h3>

A batsman who played ODIs and Tests also as though he was playing T20, the legendary <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/what-a-redemption-virender-sehwag-lauds-rahul-tewatia-after-rrs-win-over-kxip-in-sharjah/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Virender Sehwag</a> thoroughly entertained his fans throughout his career. T20 was the perfect format for him to unleash from the first ball without drawing in any form of criticism of throwing his wicket away.
While he didn’t end up playing too many IPL seasons and retired in 2015, he did feature in 104 games scoring 2728 runs at a phenomenal strike-rate of 156. He ended up scoring 2 tons and 16 fifties out of which remarkably 6 came in less than 25 balls, displaying Viru’s calibre.
Sehwag’s most swashbuckling innings came when it mattered the most. In Qualifier 2 in 2014, against a formidable Chennai Super Kings, Sehwag rolled back the years as he played his trademark drives and lofts and reached his half century in just 21 balls, his fastest in the IPL. He ended up converting that 50 into a mammoth 122 and helped his team to make it to the final, in what turned out to be one of the best ever innings of the IPL.
<h3>2. Kieron Pollard &#8211; 7</h3>

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-kieron-pollard-gets-a-congratulatory-call-from-nita-ambani-after-completing-150-matches-for-mi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kieron Pollard</a> has, without an iota of doubt, been one of the biggest players of the IPL.  A young explosive Trinidadian who came into the IPL in 2010 with a lot of hype behind him has lived up to it and has been an absolute legend for the Mumbai Indians. He has 2846 runs in 151 games with 15 half centuries out of which phenomenally 7 have come under 25 balls implicating the kind of impact Pollard has had over the years.
He transformed from a basher in 2010 to player who could come in any situation and win the game for Mumbai Indians. He has played several memorable IPL knocks over the years. His fastest 50 came in just 17 balls against KKR in 2016. He had come in with 69 needed off 42 balls and ended the game with 2 overs to spare, scoring 51 of 17 balls himself.
Despite having had several ups and downs over the years, Pollard continues to be an absolute force with the bat and has seemed to have rediscovered his mojo in the last couple of years. He showcased once again in the recent game against RCB what he is capable of as he raced to a 20-ball fifty and almost won Mumbai the game from a hopeless situation, like he has several times over the years.
<h3>1. David Warner &#8211; 8</h3>

The most consistent batsman of the IPL in the last 5 years, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/joe-root-bowls-a-magical-delivery-to-dismiss-david-warner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">David Warner</a> has been exceptionally good with the bat. He has finished as the highest run-getter three times in the last half a decade and has a tally of 4748 runs in just 128 matches with a remarkable 44 fifties to his name already, with 8 of them coming under 25 balls, along with 4 tons.
While he had good seasons with Delhi till 2013, but since joining Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014, he has gone on to score in excess of 500 runs every season he has played. Amongst his many fabulous performances, Warner’s fastest 50 came in 2017 against KKR where he raced to the milestone in just 20 balls and like all other great batsmen, converted his 50 into a mammoth 126.
However, his most remarkable fifty has to be against RCB in the all-important final of the IPL in 2016 where he played some fearless cricket and went on to get to his half century in just 24 balls. He played out of his skin and didn’t ever show signs of any nervousness and his quickfire 50 helped lay the foundation for a massive score which eventually helped SRH win the IPL.
Warner transforms into a run machine during the IPL and surely has a number of such astounding performances yet to come.
