IPL8: Is Sunil Narine losing his charm?: Just before the start of the IPL8, Kolkata Knight Riders decided to opt out from the tournament if Sunil Narine, who failed to clear bowling action test conducted by BCCI (passed in test conducted by ICC) won’t be allowed to play. But now, the KKR would regret themselves for it as the West Indian off spinner has turned out to be a big failure so far.

The change of his action completely turned his effectiveness as he is no more a mystery spinner. Sunil Narine’s latest action has almost brought a cut to his magic balls making him just an average bowler.

In the five games Narine has played with the new bowling action, he could manage to pick just 2 wickets and went for quite a few runs (67), which is so much unlike the Sunil Narine we know.

Sunil Narine’s stats in IPL till 2014:

Matches – 47

Overs – 187.1

Maidens – 2

Wickets – 67

Average – 16.76

Economy – 5.78

Strike Rate – 16.13

Sunil Narine’s stats in IPL 2015:

Matches – 5

Overs – 20

Maidens – 0

Wickets – 2

Average – 73.5

Economy – 7.35

Strike Rate – 60

Sunil Narine’s numbers have been so horrible that even the part-timer’s in KKR have picked more wickets than the man and at a better average. To add more disdain to his numbers, he has the worst average and worst strike rate among the bowlers in IPL 8 who have picked up 1 wicket or more.

The lengths he has bowled in this edition have become easy for the batsmen to pick and have regularly found the boundary. Especially, the percentage of short balls that he has bowled in this season has been ridiculously high.

If Narine can’t improve his bowling and rectify issues from here on, he will be turning into a bowler in infinite. He has hit the lowest point in his IPL career and as far as we know there is only scope for him to improve and move up from here.
