Ireland announced 15 players for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: The Ireland Cricket Board Cricket Ireland has announced its team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Selectors had last month picked up a team of 15 players for training camp as well as the tri-series against Afghanistan and Scotland at Abu Dhabi, Dubai.

The team is the same, which played the tri-series and William Porterfield continues to be the captain of the team.
Irish team for the world cup 2015 has 5 players’ who will be featuring in their 3rd world cup, among those are skipper Porterfield, Kevin O’Brien, Nail O’Brien (the O’Brien brothers), Ed Joyce, and John Mooney. And this will be the first ever world cup appearance of the other six players. Andrew Balbrinie, Peter Chase, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Andrew McBrien, Tim Murtagh, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Gary Wilson and Craig Young.

Porterfield the skipper showing confidence on his team and their ability to do well in the World Cup said, “It’s fantastic to be leading Ireland in another global tournament, “We’ve produced some wonderful performances over the years in World Cups, and there’s no reason why we can’t claim further successes in Australia and New Zealand.

Ireland have over the years made a few upsetting performances in ICC events and is the associate team which no team would take lightly. “While we may have lost the surprise factor over the years, we’ve certainly gained a lot of respect for our brand of cricket which has been pretty pleasing. He further added.

The team that has been picked for the world cup has been trained together to get together making it a good unit overall “There’s a great mix as always in the squad, and the younger guys coming through are all hungry which keeps the more experienced players on their toes. Competition for places has been fierce and that’s got to be good for Irish cricket.” said the Ireland skipper.
