Updated - Aug 5, 2022 7:28 pm
South Africa will be locking horns with Ireland in the second T20I at the County Ground, Bristol on Friday, August 5. A spirited Proteas would be hoping to seal the series by registering yet another win under their belt. They overcame the Andrew Balbirne-led side by 21 runs in a high-scoring encounter in the series opener.
The Proteas seem to be unstoppable in this format at the moment for the last couple of months that saw them level a bilateral T20I series against the top-ranked Indian team and then register an away 2-1 series victory over England in their own backyard recently. It can be rightly said that the South Africans are peaking at the right time and making a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup down under.
Ireland, on the other hand, have a lot of work to do in the format. They have suffered back-to-back defeats in T20Is in the last two months. They were first blanked 0-2 by a second-string Indian side at home, which was followed by a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand. The Irish would now be hoping to come out all guns blazing with the series on the line.

IRE vs SA Pitch Report
The surface at the County Ground is usually good for batting and many high scores have been registered at this venue. The batting in the second innings also gets easier. However, both teams will be eager to play to their strengths by putting up runs on the board and then adding pressure on the opposition. Therefore, the captain winning the toss would be looking to bat first.

IRE vs SA, 2nd T20I Probable Top Performers:
Probable best batter
All eyes will be on in-form opener Reeza Hendricks as South Africa look to register a second straight T20I series win. Hendricks looks in splendid form and would be heading into this contest on the back of four consecutive half-centuries. He had scored a match-winning 74 runs off 53 deliveries in the last game and the Irish bowlers must chalk out a plan in order to get rid of him early.
Probable best bowler
Tabraiz Shamsi would be expected to star with the ball in hand for the Proteas in this crucial encounter. He finished with figures of 2/37 in the previous match as he accounted for the likes of a well-set Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany. Moreover, the left-arm spinner had registered a match-winning fifer in the series-deciding third T20I against England last week and he would be eager to continue his purple patch in the shortest format.
