Former Mumbai Indians Strength and Conditioning Coach, Matt Dwyer, has been a key name in the support staff of various teams. He is currently involved in the same role for the Baroda team in Indian domestic circuit. In a recent tweet, Dwyer predicted the two hot properties in the upcoming IPL auctions. He believes that Baroda all-rounder Irfan Pathan and Sean Abbott of Sydney Sixers have it in them to be the top picks this season.
Abbott had a brilliant season in the Big Bash League earlier this year. The tall pace bowler even managed to scalp a five-wicket haul in the coveted T20 league. He finished as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. Hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise when Matt Dwyer named him to be a hot favorite for IPL 2017 auction. The other name that he took was of veteran Indian candidate Irfan Pathan.
Dwyer has been associated with Baroda team for quite some time and has seen Irfan’s hard work up and close. The Baroda all-rounder still has a lot to offer to the sport at the age of 32. He recently returned with figures of 3/10 in his four overs for the West Zone in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Inter-Zonal T20 match at Mumbai. Irfan was a member of the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise last year. He was released as the team finished at the penultimate position in the points table.
Now, the Baroda basher is all set to get into the auctions one more time. In his tweet, Matt Dwyer wrote, “Putting my investor hat on, @IrfanPathan and @seanabbott77 look great value in the #IPLAuction for #IPL2017.”
Irfan was quick to write back to Dwyer as he replied, “hope u well mate”.

Dwyer then continued the conversation and wished Irfan good luck for the auctions. He wrote, “doing well thanks mate… good luck in the auction! Great work in the Syed Mushtaq Ali!”
