Irfan Pathan and wife face hate for social media post

As a cricket fan, it has always been our wish to connect with the players we see on screen. Connecting with our idols became very easy with the inception of social media. One can follow his favourite cricketer and can also express his personal feelings on the posts of the cricketer. But just like the good side, there is a bad side of the coin as well. The social media won’t detain anyone from writing what he or she feels and cricketers can face an undue backlash.

One such reaction was faced by the veteran Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. He uploaded a picture with his wife on social media. The couple was sitting in their car and Pathan’s wife had her face half-covered with her hands. This picture has trigged many people across all major social platforms and Irfan is being called as ‘unIslamic’ for clicking such a picture.

The comments

The caption of the picture read “This girl is trouble #love #wifey”. The Baroda domestic captain is being targetted by extremists because they felt that he should not have exposed his better half in such a way on the public platform. Someone even bashed Safa for using nail polish. Another person suggested her to apply the Mehendi instead of nail polish.

Another Facebook profile has asked Irfan to keep his wife under the veil. A person with a rather funny profile name has said that it is the duty of Irfan’s wife to conceal her arms and being a Pathan, he must ask her to do so. This is not the first time when a cricketer has faced the heat on social media. Indian pacer Mohammad Shami experienced once such incident of hate a few months back when he uploaded a picture of him with his wife on social media.
