Indian pacer Irfan Pathan who was recently dropped from the Baroda team during the Ranji season took a subtle jibe at the state association over Twitter. His veiled opinion on the micro-blogging site came in response to a tweet made by Delhi cricketer Unmukt Chand. Chand had posted a picture of the accolades that he received from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) during a felicitation.

Chand received a plaque from the DDCA at the inaugural DDCA Conclave at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Wednesday, for his contribution to Delhi Cricket and having captained the side back in 2016. Chand tweeted an image of the plaque along with his Delhi cap, thanking the association for their recognition of his efforts.

Pathan too has been a long-serving member for the Baroda side. However, oddly his services did not receive the eulogy it deserved. Thus in response to Unmukt’s post, Pathan tweeted, “well done, this is one of the many ways u honor n respect ur players who have given services for many years.” However, Irfan has later cleared the air by saying that there was no hidden meaning and the tweet was meant to appreciate DDCA.

The left-handed bowling all-rounder was bestowed with captaincy reigns of the Baroda team before the start of the season. However, the bad blood between Pathan and the state cricketing association led to the player getting axed from the position of the Baroda team’s skipper and was also dropped from the side after just two games.

Last year, reports had surfaced of Pathan exploring the options of joining a different regional team due to differences with his side’s higher authorities. Although the problems were eventually resolved, bizarrely enough, only two matches later, he was sacked and Deepak Hooda was named the captain of the side, instead.
