Irfan Pathan blessed with baby boy

Indian allrounder Irfan Pathan and his wife Safa Baig are blessed with a baby boy. The Baroda Ranji Trophy skipper shared the news with the world from his Twitter account today. He posted a tweet expressing his happiness and said it was impossible for him to describe the feelings he was experiencing at the moment. It has a completely different type of affection.

Earlier ahead of the start of the season, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) decided to appoint the veteran as the skipper for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy. Irfan accepted the responsibility and was excited to lead a bunch of young players who have shown a lot of promise at different levels. He has had a mixed Ranji season thus far. Being an allrounder Irfan has scored runs on occasions and also picked wickets. But Baroda as a team didn’t manage to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

He was also a part of the list of players who have been released by their respective franchises ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season ten. He was with the IPL debutants Rising Pune Supergiants in the previous edition but didn’t enjoy the best of times with the team. He has been let off and will be in the pool of players at the IPL 2017 auction.

In the last couple of seasons, Baroda has emerged as a really competitive side in domestic cricket, in days format as well as the shorter versions. Under Irfan, they made their way to the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy only to lose to Suresh Raina-led Uttar Pradesh in the final.
