MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings continued their dismal run in IPL 2020 after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs on Wednesday. One of the most consistent sides of the IPL, CSK are currently dealing with a topsy-turvy ride in the UAE.

CSK were one of the favourites to clinch the trophy this season but they’ve gathered two wins in six games and their chances to add another title to their name looks bleak at the moment. CSK fans were yet again disappointed after their side failed to hunt down a modest 168-run target against KKR at Abu Dhabi. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Chennai was wrapped up on a meagre 157 by the KKR bowling unit.

Following their thumping defeat, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav were targetted on social media for their mediocre batting show. While Dhoni scored 11 off 12 deliveries, Jadhav played a sluggish 12-ball seven. But the trolling didn’t end there and the matter eventually became toxic.

Moreover, Dhoni’s five-year-old daughter was also targetted by trollers. In the disturbing incident, she even received rape and physical abuse threats on social media. Several threats were noticed on Dhoni’s Instagram as well as his wife Sakshi’s Instagram.

All the players are giving their best: Irfan Pathan

Reacting to the worrying incident, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also questioned the mentality of such people. Irfan took it to Twitter to highlight that players may not give their best on the field but that doesn’t give anyone the right to give threats to a young child.

“All the players giving their best, sometimes it just doesn’t work but it’s doesn’t give anyone any authority to give a threat to a young child #mentality #respect,” tweeted Irfan.

This isn’t the first instance when a player’s family member is trolled for his woeful performance. When India skipper Virat Kohli was going through a poor patch with the willow, his wife and Bollywood star Anushka was blamed and trolled on social media.

Dhoni, meanwhile, will be hoping to get back to winning ways and silence his doubters by booking a Playoffs berth. Post his return to the sport after over a year, Dhoni has failed to deliver with the bat. The CSK skipper has so far scored just 102 runs in five innings with the best score of 47*. 39-year-old Dhoni might not be at his best but that doesn’t give trollers the right to abuse his daughter.
