Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan who has been working towards the development and promotion of the game in the centres of the country which lack top-notch facilities with his brother Yusuf Pathan today inaugurated the Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) centre in Rajkot, Gujarat.

CAP aims at unearthing talents and providing them with the opportunity to showcase their talent and the right kind of infrastructure along with proficient coaching to enhance their game. The academy already has several centres across the country from the urban locations to the cricket rich rural areas and Rajkot is the latest addition to the list.

Talking to CricTracker after the inauguration of the latest academy Irfan said that they always wanted to have an academy in Rajkot as the place has produced some really good cricketers for the country. The current Indian team boasts of two big names from the city in Cheteshwar Pujara, the most consistent batsman in the Test team and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Rajkot is special

“We always wanted to get the academy setup in Rajkot which has a rich history of producing some remarkable cricketers for the country who have served at the international level,” Irfan told CricTracker. “Rajkot is a special place for both Yusuf and myself. Hence having a CAP centre here was on our mind,” he added.
