There is a huge debate going on in the country at the moment. After the recent terrorist attacks on Indian Army Head Quarters in the Uri district of Jammy & Kashmir, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur had said that if such a situation persists there is no possibility of India playing cricket with Pakistan.
Standing by the Board are Baroda and Gujarat skippers Irfan Pathan and Parthiv Patel who also believe that India should not play cricket with Pakistan. They wish to stick to the level of ties the central government decides to keep with the neighbors and that the interest of the country are at the highest priority.
The sentiment in the nation is pretty similar most of the people are of the opinion that India should not extend any sort of contacts with Pakistan and have even asked actors and artists from across the border to go back home. While there is a small percentage of liberals who believe art should be left alone and not mixed with politics. But they have been criticized and this time, it seems people don’t want the government to loosen the grip.
Talking about the recent attacks in Uri and his opinion about the present scenario Irfan Pathan who is all set to lead Baroda in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2016/17 season was quoted by ANI saying, “For me country comes first, we must support whatever the Government decides in such situations,”
